Renata Prates joined Reprogenetics in 2008 as a member of the Molecular PGD Team and she is currently overseeing the company’s molecular diagnostic department and is Supervisor of the Miami laboratory.
Prior to her employment at Reprogenetics, Renata worked as a research assistant at Rutgers University for approximately two years. Her work at Rutgers included carrying out an independent research project to identify the effects of vitamin A excess in the development of embryos for which she was awarded the Aresty Research Center’s Grant. While in college, Renata also worked as a Certified Tutor and Student Mentor at Union Count College and conducted various workshops to assist students with their research projects and help them improve their laboratory skills. Shortly after Graduating from Rutgers with a B.S. in Biochemistry, Renata briefly worked as a Field Service Engineer, assisting chemists, biologists and researchers with spectrometers and detectors hardware and software related problems.
Renata is originally from Brazil and she came to the US to pursue an American degree. She was a member of The National Dean’s List and was awarded both the Union County College Board of Chosen Freeholders Scholarship and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Scholarship. In her free time, she is active in a variety of teaching programs in her local township where she is known for performing local community service for nearly 15 years.
