Laboratory Supervisor at Reprogenetics UK
Location: Oxford, United Kingdom Date available: Now Contract type: Permanent
Salary: Dependent on experience
About the job:
Applicants are sought for a laboratory supervisor post at Reprogenetics UK, a dynamic and growing laboratory, specializing in preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). The successful candidate would oversee a small team, primarily involved in the PGD of single gene disorders. Training in all necessary techniques will be provided, including cutting-edge methods of genetic testing. However, the applicant should have some prior experience with DNA amplification (i.e. PCR) and genetic diagnostics. The ability to work as part of a team is also of great importance, as the successful applicant will need to coordinate the work of technicians and cooperate with other teams operating within the same laboratory. Given the clinical nature of the work, good record keeping and an appreciation of the requirements of a regulated/accredited laboratory are also considered to be valuable attributes. One of the keys to a successful PGD service is excellent communication with the doctors and clinics that refer samples for testing. Consequently it is of the utmost importance that applicants are able to communicate with courtesy, clarity and accuracy. Candidates should ideally be HCPC registered or hold an equivalent certification. They should be well-motivated and willing to work flexibly, including participation in a weekend work rota. Applicants must be an EU citizen or hold an immigration status that permits them to work within the United Kingdom.
